SAKI’S STORY “CONFLICT”

Some of the conflict in Saki’s “The Storyteller” is the children on the train are bored and want to be entertained with an exciting story by the Storyteller. Saki was isolated within his family home along with his siblings because of the threat of disease. They had little adult interaction growing up and had to use their imagination as much as possible. The conflict in the story comes from the children trying to make the most of their holiday while traveling with boring adults that have no imagination at all. As we grow old we often forget the longing to learn and ponder the mystery in a good story that can spark all sort of exciting stories and adventures in our imaginations. The children in the story seem starved for attention as Saki and his siblings were as children.

THE STORM

Calixta demonstrate huge and strong love for her family in so many ways throughout the story of “The Storm”. In this story, Calixta was not quite happy and restless in her marriage. I’m not really happy on Calixta’s decision, some people may see it wright but for me it was very wrong. She was being unfaithful not only to her husband but also to her son. She was capable at doing things that can destroy her marriage like fulfilling her sexual desires with another man and does not even feel guilty about what she did. For me, I believe that loyalty is very important and being loyal means being respectful to your partner. Alcee was Calixta’s ex-boyfriend, He represents a way for Calixta to find “happiness” and “freedom”.

SAKI BIOGRAPHY

Saki’s situation of being isolated at his family’s home as a child is unfortunate. The Aunt’s weren’t much into children and what little excitement the children experienced was few and far in between. The occasional visit from Uncle’s and their father every few years is not much to look forward to as a child and seems almost neglectful. Children need to be engaged with other children their age and learn to communicate and social with their peers. Boy’s need more interaction with other men and boys than once a year or less. It is no wonder the boys had the time of their lives at a boarding school before training to be a soldier prior to entering the military. Saki’s solitude may have been what sparked his imagination to write stories like “Alice in Wonderland”.

INTERNAL CONFLICT

Internal conflict can present itself in many ways throughout life. On example of this conflict within ourselves could be finding a large sum of money in a lost wallet. Inside, we know the right and just this to do is to try and return the money and wallet to the rightful owner while we fantasize of how nice it would be to buy something for ourselves instead of returning the money. The conflict is between doing right when doing wrong would be easier and benefiting. Our conscience knows what is right and wrong if we allow it guide us in life we will most always make the right decision. The internal conflict between good and evil or right and wrong is with us in almost

LEAST FAVORITE

My least favorite reading assignment would be “The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin. The poem revolved around the feeling of liberation that Mrs. Mallard felt after the supposed death of her husband from a tragedy. Her feeling of liberation has brought her to her demise at the end of the story. I did not like how the story concluded because it was not a happy ending. Although all of us will die, we should try to live our lives to the fullest. Mrs. Mallard has taken the death of her husband a sign of her freedom.  She has not given enough time to internalize what has happened; instead, she comes out with a feeling of unexplained liberty of not having a husband. After seeing that her husband was alive, she suddenly died from a heart attack. Although this story did not end well, this should still be a part of our readings because readers can learn from Mrs. Mallard’s experience.

LANGSTON HUGHES

Langston’s suggestion is much like the Bible story about building one’s house on rock rather than sand. The story is referring to making sure one’s spiritual foundation is strong so that they can weather any of life’s storm’s because they build their life from a rock- solid foundation. This saying is true rather if spiritual or otherwise and is good advice that is easier said than done. Much work and patience is required to lay down the necessary groundwork needed to secure the best future. Certain steps and processes must be taken at the right time to get the most out of life like going to college before starting a family for instance. If college is complete and one is financially secure when they start a family they are more likely to succeed and help their children achieve more when steps are taken in the right order to build a strong foundation for ones life, relationships, and future.

FAVORITE READING

Thank you ma’am is my most favorite reading assignment because I was inspired with the qualities of the old lady in the story. I love how she forgave the teenager and gave him a second chance after what happened. Giving second chances is not easy especially when someone committed a hideous crime against you. It will take a lot of time, understanding, forgiveness and questioning of why someone should be given a second chance. I believe that forgiveness should be given to someone has the potential and willingness to change. I can relate to this story because I have experience giving second chances to many people. Although some of the outcomes were not as I expected, most of them were fulfilling because I have gained back the trust that was taken for granted. Forgiveness is a powerful quality one should possess. Thank you ma’am is truly a great example of showing forgiveness and giving second chances.

THANK YOU MA’AM

When I met my biological mom, I was in doubt that we will create the bond of mother and son relationship. I had so many things going through my mind, questions that needed to be answered. When I decided to talk to her, I asked her so many random questions. I know that some of those questions were cruel; however, she responded calmly and made sure that I will be satisfied with all the answers she gave. I knew it was a tough situation and I needed to apologize. I put her on a spot that every mother should not feel towards their relationship with their son. I would say that she was a tough old bird. She gave me another chance to explain myself. She told me that she will stand by my side no matter what happens. She gave me another chance. I felt sorry for my mother. She encouraged me to open up with her and that’s what I did. I will be forever grateful for my mom’s kind heart and forgiveness.

MY FAVORITE AUTHOR AND HIS QUOTE

My favorite author is William Shakespeare and one of his quote that really catches my eye is the quote “Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them”. This quote is my favorite quote that he wrote because I can relate to it. My best friend was born great, since he was a little, His family gave everything that he wanted and he is also very smart. He is like a complete package. But me, I grew up without my parents by myside that is why I started working at my early age so that I can by all the things that I wanted. Until now, I’m working, studying and chasing my goals at the same time.

THEME OF MY FAVORITE MOVIE “FAITH”

One of the theme in My favorite movie “A Walk To Remember” By Nicholas Sparks that really speaks to me is “faith”. A faith in ourselves specially in God. Having Faith is so important to me because that means I complete trust to god and myself by believing that I can do everything that I want to accomplish. Facing a physical and emotional challenges everyday is not easy. Most of the time, somewhere in my head full of doubts, negativity comes though but In everything, I put my faith in god and myself and that no matter what negativity that may come into my life I know I can get through it and  I know I could make my life into the life that I wanted.

EXPERIENCE IN ENG 102

My writing experience in English 102 was not that easy, due to the fact that English Is not my first language. sometimes, there a word that I don’t really understand and how to put it in a sentence that’s why I take forever for to write my essay. In this class, I have learned a lot. It wasn’t easy and I admit that but Just by writing this blog, It build my English writing skills. For me, Is it a little different In English 101, 101 is a lot easier. It’s a different because in English 101, all we did was writing essay and we only have to do 6 the whole semester, but in this class we have to write an essay and do the blog at the same time. This class is very hard for me, I think what I need to do differently to improve my grade in English 102 is to write my blogs on time and go tutoring to Improve my writing skills.

WHAT I’M REALLY FED UP WITH OR FRUSTRATED ABOUT

I’M REALLY FED UP ABOUT THE FACT THAT I HAVE WAKE UP EARLY IN THE MORNING JUST TO GO TO SCHOOL AND FEW MINUTES AFTER MY CLASS I HAVE TO GO TO WORK AND I DON’T EVEN HAVE TIME TO EAT ANYMORE. RIGHT AFTER WORK I HAVE A LOT OF HOMEWORK TO DO AND MOST OF THE TIME, I ONLY HAVE FEW HOURS TO SLEEP BECAUSE I HAVE TO WAKE UP EARLY TO COOK BREAKFAST AND CLEAN THE HOUSE LITTLE BIT. I’M REALLY GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH EVERYTHING THAT’S GOING ON WITH MY LIFE, I DON’T EVEN HAVE TIME FOR MY SELF ANYMORE BECAUSE ALL I THINK ABOUT IS SCHOOL AND WORK. I DON’T EVEN HAVE TIME TO HANGOUT WITH MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY ALSO. SOME OF THEM ARE GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH ME. BUT THAT’S LIFE, I CAN’T HELP MY SELF BUT TO THINK ABOUT MY FUTURE. YOU HAVE TO WORK REALLY HARD IN ORDER TO LIVE AND DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT IN LIFE.
